What's New at MTC Library

Embedded Librarian @ MTC LIbrary

by Ask A Librarian on 2017-01-05T11:58:14-05:00 | 0 Comments

The Embedded Librarian Program allows instructors to request a designated librarian for online, research-based courses. Working with Desire2Learn, a librarian provides enhanced library service and assistance to students.

A discussion forum is added to the class and customized by the librarian per course requirements and preferences. The librarian then posts relevant instructions, sources, and answers to questions. Students interact with their class librarian via the forum or email.

Semester-long Research Assistance

The librarian posts a welcome message early in the semester and maintains a presence in D2L throughout the entire semester. Students contact the librarian with research questions. The librarian is able to help students locate and evaluate quality resources for their papers, projects or assignments.

Online Library Orientations

Online students don’t have to miss out on library instruction. The MTC Library offers online instruction using WebEx. A librarian coordinates and creates a customized library instruction session.

Handouts, Topic Guides and Video Tutorials

Our librarians can create library handouts, topic guides or video tutorials for online courses.
