Introduction to Finding and Using Images Online

This guide is designed to provide helpful information to assist in finding images using free Internet resources and library databases as well as how to cite those images properly in your work. Click on the tabs to browse recommended image resources and image citation information.

Licensed Image Databases at MTC

Academic Search Premier

The Image Collection in select EBSCO interfaces provides you with instant access to more than 1 million images relating to people, natural science, places, history, and flags. To search for an image, click More on the top toolbar. From the resulting drop-down menu, select Images. The Image Collections Search Screen appears.
Credo Reference

To explore Credo’s image collection, run a basic search. On the results page, click the image filter. You’ll see a display of images related to your search. Click the thumbnail for a larger view.
Gale Power Search
Search across multiple Gale collections including OneFile: Health and Medicine, In Context: Biography (Biography in Context), In Context: Opposing Viewpoints, and eBooks. To explore Gale’s image collection, run a basic search. On the results page, click the image filter. You’ll see a display of images related to your search. Click the thumbnail for a larger view and image information. Cite the image directly from the database!
